Principles Of Applied Behavior Analysis Alabama

By Christine Morris

Through this program, children develop many abilities like playing skills, sharing, toileting skills and language proficiency among others. Specialists use these principles tackle maladaptive behaviors like aggression and self-injury. Parents prefer to work with competent ABA therapists with philosophical ideas as theirs in the execution of applied behavior analysis Alabama principles.

Skinner is the inventor of behavioral learning theory. In his lab trials, he altered the behavior of a dog by using food. The food stimulated the dog to behave well. In this experiment, food is the stimulant, and it serves as a reward or reinforcement that makes the dog behave in an expected manner. ABA teachers are encouraged to use reinforcers like fruits to regulate behavior and change the reinforcers as training continues.

From the acronym ABA, applied means to practice. Hence, there is a need to repeat the processes until the child learns the targeted behavior. Average children acquire knowledge without any intervention. The surrounding has the right agents, which provoke children to learn play, social and language skills. In addition, children with autism learn comfortably from the environment, although they need a well-structured environment for them to learn naturally as normal children.

ABA is mainly concerned with setting up the environment that acts as an avenue for children, especially those with autism, to source information. The organization of the environment is in line with the principles of ABA. Then, an ABA teacher continually emphasizes on the utilization of positive reinforcements to produce desirable habits. Hence, applied behavioral analysis is more of a science than philosophy, which has shown partial evidence of developing necessary skills in developmentally disordered brains, especially in early childhood.

Concisely, ABA points out the pre-requisites that support children to learn naturally. Aside from behavioral learning approach, other methods that children may learn naturally from include explanation and models. Kids also imitate people without receiving help. Research has shown that children would not develop autism if they could learn on their own

There is not as much information regarding the application of ABA program. ABA trainers apply the principles to demonstrate many areas. These principles may either escalate or lessen behavior depending on the projected purpose. Nonetheless, the objective of every therapist is to effect constructive behavior such as eating, dressing, toileting, self-care and other public significant behaviors.

ABA program is an inclusive program; hence, parents also play a crucial role. From studies, children whose parents take an active part in the program make meaningful progress. Since a parent is a person who knows the child better, they avail relevant data, which helps in conducting the ABA program. Parents also induce skills in children consistently reinforcing them via the daily activities.

Many of the ABA sessions take place at home. The ABA therapists work in a stimulating surrounding and use multiple resources to make the learning process enjoyable. The ABA periods cover up to two hours each week. Hence, some parents source skills from these sessions to teach their children while at home. The skilled therapists network with tutors to heighten positive behaviors even in a school setting. This way, children will have similar experience both at home and in school.
