One way to achieve this is through jutting the chin forward. One is required to hold for about two seconds before the head is returned to its normal position.

One will need to focus on the muscles that have just been tightened before lifting the back of the head off the shoulders. More attention will need to be given to the tight muscles so that they release. The process is repeated in the morning and also evening until you get relief.

There is use of simple techniques such as massage, heat therapy and stretching exercises. For individuals suffering from tense shoulder muscles, there might be pain when massage is done. If the tension loosened using gentle heat prior to massage, pain will be eased.

In the ultimate sense, when working toward easing pain in the areas, the treatment is ongoing. It will take some time. The pains will be cured permanently by stretching, exercises and massage. In some cases, a combination of methods are used.
