These family individuals want to know what will happen as their loved one moves toward the later stages with Alzheimers. Play word games. You can actually make up your own word game to play with the adult. A suggestion would be to create a game that would connect words with family members. Since people with the disease slowly lose their memory, you want to keep them remembering familiar faces for as long as you can.

Listen to old music records. Most people have their own collection of music which they like to listen to. Pull out the records if that is what brings back the best memories and have them recorded to CDs. The senior can then listen to them on the latest music hardware. Most seniors enjoy singing along and trying to remember the words to music that they listened to years ago.

For the patient their biggest concern is whether or not they will be treated with compassion, respect, and able to sustain some type of dignity during their transition. There are wonderful hospice staff who work with families having to go through this ordeal. The health care team is consisted of doctors, caregivers, nurses, and family members who are helping take care of their loved one. Each team player has a significant role in helping the patient and family members through the different stages of their condition.

There are many different stages that people diagnosed with Alzheimers will go through. Most of the stages are very frightening and the individual just want to hold on to pieces of memories for as long as they can. Although, stimulating activities will not stop the disease it is a way to help the individual stay sharp a bit longer.

Individuals can find out more about the condition and what they can do to help prolong the disease by talking to their health care provider. The more you know and understand about the condition the more you can do for yourself or a loved one. It is important to discuss your concerns with your provider so that a plan can be created for you.
