If we actually believe in ourselves, who we are, what our purpose is in this world and what we can offer those around us, then hardly any quantity of criticism can knock us off our center.
It's only when a person begins to build themselves upon the compliments of others or suffers because of their criticisms that things begin to get really shaky. When this starts to happen, the character of the individual is in question because they are trying to appease others instead of truly being themselves.
If you want to be yourself in this world you also have to have some thick skin.
In this world, the wolves are constantly looking for people to tear apart and ruin their lives. This is just an inevitable reality of living. It's part of the game. Similarly, there are going to be people who will surround you and say anything to get a quick buck from you. If we fall into letting both of these scenarios build our characters we get into deep trouble.
So what's really a solution here?
We have got to trust in ourselves.
To believe in yourself in this world is to take one of the greatest challenges there is. The reason for that is there are so many reasons, people, and voices telling you to be something besides what you are. All of those things are incredibly hard to fight off. But when you can listen to that inner voice telling you which direction to go, you really give yourself a chance to live your best life.
Don't change because other people told you to. Change because something deep inside of you is calling you to it. Change for yourself and who you know you could be in the future. Continue to grow and continue to enhance your life day in and day out because that's what feels right to you.
Because if you change for yourself and were the captain of your own ship, there's nothing to regret at the end of your life. If you stay true to yourself and who you are, you could always keep your head held high.
Believe in yourself. When you really believe in yourself, your entire world could change.
