By Merv Carlson

If you want to have fun and improve your lifestyle positively, consider owning a dog. Your life becomes more exciting when you have a dog as a loyal companion. You'll have fun moments having the dog doing outdoor activities with you. People tend to be lazy indoor in winter; but summer is coming; to get fit and become healthier, take your dog out of your home and start doing outdoor activities together. The warm weather and the beautiful nature outside provides you with more motivation to do the outdoor activities. Below are some outdoor activities you can do with your dog.

Walking Walking is a popular activity. Walking is simple, free and one of the easiest ways to help you keep fit. Walking is suitable for people of all ages. You should spend at least 30 minutes per day to walk. Regular walking with your dog is believed to help reduce heart disease, type 2 diabetes, asthma, stroke and some types of cancer. An active dog is your best walking companion. Your dog also needs physical exercises, and walking is suitable for it.

Jogging Jogging is one of the oldest and most popular outdoor activities. You can choose to be a morning or afternoon jogger to arrange time for this exercise. If you go too fast, you can face medical problems with your muscles and joints. Jogging is popular since it brings the joggers with countless benefits, including losing weight, better mental health, healthier muscle development.

Hiking Hiking is believed to be an incredible workout activity since it helps bring peace back into your mind and also helps you keep fit. Hiking brings you closer to the nature, helps you enjoy the fresh atmosphere and burn calories at the same time. It is even more fun if you have your dog as a companion. Hiking improves your muscle strength while not putting too much pressure on your joints. Unlike walking or jogging, hiking requires a little bit of preparation. A backpack is needed to carry water, your hiking boots and the dog boots if you intend to hike with your dog. Like any other exercises, you should start out with a few miles first to develop your and your dog's level of endurance; then gradually build up to longer treks.

Water Activities There are dog breeds that do love water. Water sports are most suitable for people who live near the beach or lake. One of the most popular water sports you can do with your dog is surfing. Dog surfing is not easy and will require training. Swimming is an easier water sport for dogs.
