By Hazel A. Perry

Healthcare issues are taken seriously by any given country. The government works round the clock exploring various ways to improve healthcare brand. The brands should be aimed at bettering the lives of the citizens. The common mistake being made is prioritizing buildings and infrastructure yet services remain poor. This is of no help at all.

The constitution grants every citizen the right to a safe and healthy environment. This right must be respected. Any activity that risks the health of man, however profitable it is, should be shunned. Such include CFC emission into the atmosphere, poor nuclear energy handling and ozone depletion. These have a serious bearing on human health.

At the budgeting stage, a good percentage of national funds normally go to issues related to health. Due to disorganization and lack of strategy, the terms agreed upon are in most cases jeopardized. The researchers, instead of focusing on disease prevention divert their attention to treatment of diseases that rarely occur. They also spend more time counteracting other findings instead of improving them to benefit the vast populace. This amounts to gross embezzlement of state funds with nothing to stand for.

It is normally humbling to see workers in hospitals overstretched because there are more patients to attend to than they can handle. This happens because most people believe that it is only in the major hospitals that one can be offered satisfactory health services. The community facilities thus are left scarcely populated. This trend must be reversed if positive change is desired. Plans to make the smaller hospitals meet desirable standards, if fast tracked will be greatly beneficial.

An efficient design for modern healthcare provision has to be developed. Some processes that are followed as a procedure when one seeks hospital services should be changed to improve accessibility. Space should be utilized well to curb the overcrowding that is witnessed in some establishments. The doctor patient ration should also be reduced.

Many researchers are interested in this field the world over. There is need for them to form a caucus that jointly arrives at findings that can be trusted for implementation. They should also be available to be consulted during the implementation process.

Intergovernmental cooperation to set targets for healthy living can bring great changes. Issues like climate change and global warming can only be solved in a unified manner. HIV and AIDS prevalence can also be tackled since this virus has proven to be elusive calling for a different strategy.
