Why Your Adolescent Child Needs A Therapy

By Jerry Bailey

In this current period, new generation of people are being born. Gone are the days where parents mostly got the upper hand and intelligence over their children. But with social media, you can say that it helps to widen the knowledge of everyone including the teenagers today. Because you see many things in social media and some have no filtering on its content, the youth suddenly get to see some things which made their behaviour change. Others might say they are just in a rebellious phase or mood swings, but one might not know that this kid is struggling. When even a family member cannot help him or her, then perhaps an adolescent therapy San Rafael is needed.

Based on the situation above, which is only fictional, you could easily tell that the daughter is having a serious problem. Most teenagers have encountered that in which they feel trapped in a predicament with no way of exit. As you observed nowadays, teens tend to overreact with small things and make those things turn bigger and worst. Without the guidance of a positive adult, they might end up walking in the wrong path of life.

Now back to the situation, the girl kept on harming herself by cutting her arms. Most would likely want to divert their internal suffering to the pain they physically felt. And if they continue to do that, it would just lead them into something even worst which is death. Being disregarded by the family would even make the situation worst.

That is why teens that are uncontrollable need some medical attention. Some parents might even forcibly send them to Dr. Phil. But is it really good thing to force them to in a national television? Perhaps taking them privately to a therapist is much wiser.

Depression is not a joke nor an overdramatic play of an individual who had it. It eats a person emotionally to the point the person could not take it to go on with his life. When your teen is always sad, detached from you and the society and with a moody behaviour, this might be a sign of depression.

For that reason, you cannot turn a blind eye on what is happening to your teenage son. The worst thing that would happen to him is committing a suicide which is truly a nightmare for both mothers and fathers. And no parents cannot outlive their children.

In addition, that may not only be their issue. You have no idea what is happening to your only child at school or outside. He might be bullied by his friends. He probably did something bad like taking some illegal drugs. He might having some troubles in his studies, making him an outcast in the class.

Maybe their peers kept on persuading them to do bad things. Many reasons can affect them. However, problematic teenagers really want someone to listen to their pain. And professionals such as psychologist and even psychotherapist can certainly help them.

Nevertheless, the role of parents is very crucial. Because you bear those children, you continue to guide them into right path. Listen to their pain and find ways to help them.
