Convincing Men To Find The Best Sunless Tanner Starts With The Skin

By Haywood Hunter

Long gone are the days when sun bathers lined up beaches on lakes, rivers, and oceans with their bodies coated in cooking grease or baby oil. These days we realize how dangerous this practice was, as we see our mothers and fathers fighting skin cancer and age spots, not to mention the generally aged look to their skin. Learning from their example, young people do the research in order to choose the best sunless tanner for them.

Skin tone certainly dictates to a great extent what choices one might make. When one already has a darker tone, they are more likely to go for creams, gels, and lotions rather than a tanning bed. For them, it is all about protecting and moisturizing, as well as keeping their skin tone even, rather than obtaining a particular color or complexion which they may already possess.

Being adequately moisturized is important for the wind as well as the sun exposure. The autumn is a time when people often suffer chapped lips, cheeks, and hands when they are at the mercy of the wind. Those who love to snow ski also are intimately familiar with the fact that sun and wind are the primary culprits for dry, chapped, and burnt skin in the snow, although electric heaters can take partial credit for dehydrating the skin.

In addition to creams and gels, there are also spray-on solutions which are very popular with many women due to the even coverage provided by the sprayer. The downside of all these products, however, appears to be the resulting color coming out an orange or burnt umber rather than looking like a natural tan. It helps when one thoroughly exfoliates their skin prior to applying the tanning solution, as this allows the skin to absorb the product evenly.

Indoor tanning has become even more popular than gels, lotions, oils, or solutions. In fact, it is even more popular than laying out in the sun, as there seems to be a perspective that this form of tanning is less dangerous. This is not entirely true, however, and women need to know this.

In the aspect that one is better able to control their exposure, tanning beds may be more safe. However, some people will go too far with it, and the resultant burns are just as painful, and just as dangerous as anything one might get outside. The risk of falling asleep in the tanning bed is actually greater than the risk of falling asleep on the beach.

Newer beds also come with an alarm, or at least a loud bell ring when the fifteen minutes are up. This bell can be turned off, but many of the beds cannot be set to stay on for longer than 15 or 30 minutes at a time. Even so, businesses which still allow a tanning bed on site are usually very watchful of how long their client has been inside the tanning room.

One cannot talk about tanning lotions and bronzers without pointing out the coconut oil bronzers on the market. Coconut oil is all the rage, and is being touted as a miracle for aging, dry, or damaged skin. By utilizing a coconut oil bronzer, one is able to achieve the superior degree of moisture as well as protect their skin from the damaging rays of the sun.
