Adverse Affects Of Navicular Disease On Horses

Most of the horses get affected with some sort of foot problem once in their life time. In order to ensure that the foot of your horse remains in healthy and sound condition, you should carry your regular checks and inspections. Navicular disease is one of the most crucial conditions that affects most of the horses and once it is contracted it becomes very hard to deal with.

There are certain treatments that are regarded as effective but if you are looking for a complete cure then bear in mind it could take a bit of time. Its important to follow the treatment as precisely as possible otherwise the health of your horse will deteriorate with time.

Never neglect the health and well being of your horse because neglecting such condition could lead to adverse affects in the future. It would affect the overall health of the horse in near future which would be the last thing that you could desire. You need to care for and maintain the affected foot as regularly as you can because only proper care can help it get recovered.

Usually a horse is affected by navicular syndrome after he is five years old. Therefore, as soon as it gets older you should start doing regular checks and inspect their foot very closely. If you feel that the animal is getting agitated and there is a typical lameness in his legs then it could be the case where he is affected and you should seek medical advice straightaway.

The root cause of this problem is yet to be identified which is another unfortunate thing. Till this day, certain researches are under progress so that the cause of this problem could be finally identified. Once the root cause is found then it is most likely that this disease could be prevented completely.

There are individuals who unfortunately remain less bothered regarding the health of the animals that they keep. What they don't understand is that they are making those creatures suffer a lot and there is no reason for that. Being a proprietor, it is your obligation to administer them and verify that they are not being hurt in any way possible.

There is a surgical procedure which could also be performed but only in those cases that have gotten worse through time. Sometimes the medications and other treatments do not work at all which means you have no other option but to let your horse undergo a surgery. Bear in mind that the recovering process is quite longer than usual so be prepared.

Besides providing him medical care, the horse would also need plenty of love and affection because a little affection from your side could do a lot for him. Try to comfort him throughout the recovery process. It is an unfortunate thing that any horse could get affected by this disease but if you care for the horse properly and maintain his feet through thick and thin then it is most likely that you could avoid this from happening.
