By John Jacobs

No one really enjoys talking about hemorrhoids. There are probably several people close to you who have had to deal with this uncomfortable condition. By applying the following tips and techniques, you just may be able to find some good treatment options that will give you some relief for hemorrhoids, whether they are internal or external.

Be sure to be scrupulous in your hygiene, especially when hemorrhoids are present. After each bowel movement, use pre-moistened towelettes instead of plain toilet paper. Taking a hot sitz bath can help relieve the swelling and pain of hemorrhoids. You will want to sit in it for 20 minutes at least.

Rutin can help you with your hemorrhoids. Weak blood vessels can cause hemorrhoids. Rutin is not only necessary to absorb Vitamin C, but it also helps to strengthen blood vessels. It is generally found in citrus fruits, as well as in vegetables, such as broccoli and onions. If you take it in supplement form, take 500mg daily.

Applying heat and ice on your hemorrhoids is an efficient remedy. This will cause the hemorrhoid to shrink and heal. Apply ice for ten minutes followed by a moistened heat pad for twenty minutes.

Witch hazel is very helpful for relieving discomfort, pain, and itching associated with hemorrhoids. Witch hazel is a great astringent that can constrict your hemorrhoid tissue, which can relieve and heal them. Witch hazel can either be applied via inclusion in a sitz bath, or by direct application using a cotton ball for a few minutes.

One way to lessen the effects of hemorrhoids, or prevent them entirely, is to get plenty of water in your diet. Drinking plenty of water each day softens your stool naturally. Things to avoid are excessive consumption of caffeinated beverages and alcohol.

Some may find it comical, but a cushion is a great solution to circumvent hemorrhoid discomfort. Using in at your workplace may make you feel a bit silly, but even just using it in your car and at home will help relieve much of the pain you're experiencing and make your hemorrhoids less stressful.

The very private nature of hemorrhoids' affected areas makes it very difficult for many adults to openly seek advice from their friends or families.
